Harrystottle   10 #73 Posted April 8, 2018 It's a battle for influence. You can't tell me that the government is concerned only with the objective truth; and every media outlet is pushing an agenda. They just want you to listen to their version of the truth, not someone else's version.
 Share this content via...
A.B.Yaffle   24 #74 Posted April 8, 2018 If the government are going to ban fake news, does that mean no government minister will be allowed to open their mouths on TV anymore?
 Share this content via...

melthebell   862 #77 Posted November 27, 2018 In related news i have just been reading this article https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-sh/the_godfather_of_fake_news  about a man who makes money from just randomly making up stories which obviously people take as real, and share on social media, and grow so big, people start to believe them and they eventually will colour peoples views on politics etc. How wrong is that? how morally bankrupt do you have to be to make money from something which could have devastating consequences for millions of peoples lives the world over? And then theres the guy that makes money from posting on his website pointing out which stories are fake. Oo  madness, complete madness. woodview   10 #78 Posted November 27, 2018 Fake news is a massive problem, no doubt. Tackling it is just a big a problem. Controlling social media is a huge problem. You are effectively trying to stop people talking to each other. In a non-digital world lies and chinese-whispers have always happened. Nowadays they can spread in hours. But stopping it and wher edoes it become censorship or dictatorial is difficult.
 Share this content via...

melthebell   862 #80 Posted March 25, 2019 An interesting look at an "alt news" channel  Interesting that as usual they dont take any responsibility of what they say while pumping out this propaganda (truthful or fake) creates an atmosphere of anger and hate, which CAN develop into actions including violence and murder. Also interesting that hes a usual right wing hypocrite, has a polish wife and supports brexit and clamping down on immigration Oo  why do right wingers always have polish wives and girlfriends?
