Annie Bynnol   612 #13 Posted January 24, 2018 Between July 22 and October 7 Derby station is closed for through services. One London train an hour bypassing Derby. No through trains to Derby, Birmingham, Oxford, Bristol etc. Extensive use of coaches between Chesterfield and East Midlands Parkway/Burton.  There will be a separate train timetable for all London and Cross Country services.  Consider travelling to Birmingham and the south west via Stockport. Andy C Â Â 86 #22 Posted April 5, 2018 There has been some issues with the summer timetables due to the electrification work between Manchester and Preston being way behind schedule. It was intended electric trains would take over from May with the diesel trains released to provide improved services elsewhere on the Northern network. Â As far as Sheffield goes the extra trains on the Sheffield-Manchester line and improved evening service on Leeds-Sheffield-Nottingham are still happening. Â The Doncaster-Sheffield-Lincoln line changes on the other hand are being phased in as there is no rolling stock available yet for the extra trains planned for Sheffield to Retford - the idea would be these would stop all stations to allow for a limited stop faster train between Sheffield and Lincoln which would also be a through train from Leeds. Â The plan for May now is the Leeds-Sheffield-Lincoln service is still happening but calling all stations Sheffield-Lincoln. The changes to the Sheffield-Doncaster timetable are still happening with two trains an hour Sheffield-Hull (one fast and one slow) for example. Â Timetables should now be in the online journey planners such as http://www.nationalrail.co.uk plus the more geeky sites like http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk.
