Are Calais Migrants OUR Problem?

Recommended Posts

which completely sidesteps the point Loob made

Just adding to the discussion. If Gibraltar had voted to share sovereignty then they most likely wouldn't have voted in the EU referendum because they would be staying in the EU regardless of how the whole UK voted in the EU referendum. The way referendums work is there are two options and the result is decided by adding up every vote casted and the winner is the option which receives the most votes. How different regions votes is irrelevant to the overall result just like Loob's point as you call it.

On the bright side it looks like James O'Brien was kicked off Newsnight for being biased.

This is silly. What you should do is phone the police. The police would then detain them and explain that there is a correct way to enter the neighbours property. They would be advised of the correct route and the necessary invitations they would need.

If the neighbour had invited them but the visitors were coming by a route that is not advised, then the visitors are still to blame.

If the neighbour had not invited them in the first place then this absolves them of any related problems.

One must also ask why they are going by a difficult route. There is a road and a path up to the front door. Unless they have something to hide that is.

You don't think things through properly. This is a problem these days.

It's not a problem anymore, the UK have paid up,so they have acknowledged there is a problem with the visitors, see how good neighbours can sort problems out and get on with each other?,such a happy couple they looked, and the French one had more words of advice to the UK one if they wanted to get back into the party they are having next door.:hihi:

Oh,nearly forgot,Boris is going to make a beautiful new door in the fence so that everybody can get through more easily.

I think it's a nice idea of Johnson's; strengthening ties with Europe. Wait, what?

sounds like it, saw this in an article on the bridge too

Mr Johnson had tweeted earlier in the day: ‘So much important work in [the UK-France summit] outcomes, but I’m especially pleased we are establishing a panel of experts to look at major projects together.

They are good neighbours. They always have been. Unfortunately for the bad neighbours though a decision to move the house out of the neighbour's reach has been made. So they will be on their own in the near future.

They didn't want to move, they felt forced. No-one wants to live next to a neighbour from hell. The bad neighbour constantly bleats, costs the good neighbour money and passes their problems on.

The bad neighbour also seems to be very ungrateful. Not that long ago another bad neighbour barged his way into their house. The British neighbour went to help with great financial cost and many deaths amongst the household. We didn't expect any recompense though, we were just happy to help.

The British neighbour is a little peeved though. It seems even though they lost many young men fighting for this ungrateful neighbour the collection of bad neighbours has now ganged up with their previous invader to punish the British neighbour who just wants things to continue along similar lines.

The British neighbour has now realised that it is a very good idea to move their house nearer to a new neighbourhood where their are many friendly faces who want nothing in return for congeniality.

They all lived happily ever after. Meanwhile the previous bad neighbour fall out and squabble so much that the whole estate is demolished.

They are coming because of the push / pull effect. The push is leaving their homes because of war, or climiate change, or because of massive overpopulation and resulting lack of opportunities in their homeland.

The pull is economic benefits here and in other countries. It is no co-incidence that migrants / illegal immigrants push on through southern Europe until they get to somewhere like Sweden or Germany. Because the welfare systems in Germany and Sweden are considerably more generous than the ones in Greece or Spain, say.

So if you want fewer migrants, lessen the economic incentive for them to come.

As L00b has pointd out we in the UK have an additional problem in that due to the lack of an ID card and joined up governance in general, it is easier for illegals to live under the radar here, to work in the black economy.

All of the above is doable, if there is the political will to do it. But due to the truly dire quality of UK politicians at the moment, maybe that will does not exist.

They must have a very low opinion of France or they must know France won't let them in if they're prepared to live in the filth they do.

The British neighbour seems to spend a lot of time watching re runs of 'Dads Army' with the sound turned up to full volume because they are a bit deaf, which means they also can't hear the neighbours telling them they can't have their cake and eat it.Also, the neighbours are sick of them blaming all their problems on the rest of the estate, when they have clearly agreed to the rules of the estate and signed agreements to that effect, meanwhile, since the decision to move to a new neighbourhood, the value of their house has dropped and the rest of the estate is laughing at the loud arguments of the occupants of the house about their coming move, and can't wait to get rid of them, the rest of the estate is booming in value since the neighbour decided to move out.

It's alright mel, the pattern of avoidance, misdirection and other assorted handwaving in the face of difficult questions is regular as clockwork, and fully as expected.

Still won't stop me from asking the difficult questions though :D

Gibraltarians (and Scots) will be knocking on the Leavers' heads before long: two can play the wishful 'disintegration' game and, going by the factual and democratic outcome of votes since 2016 to date (as referenced by LowCostPoint indeed), the EU27 has significantly betters odds of remaining united than the UK indeed ;)

Their relations seem eternally damaged, so it is better to up sticks and move. The British neighbours are also aware that there are one or two newer neighbours that are starting to kick up a fuss. They pay little into the neighbourhoods upkeep but get all the benefits. These neighbours are also most annoyed at the Germanic neighbours telling everyone who wants to move in, even though others in the neighbourhood are against this. They seem to make all the big decisions.

Fast forward a few years. The British neighbour has now settled into a new neighbourhood. They have made great friends with the USA people next door and enjoy mutually beneficial events. Others are moving into the area, they are queuing to get in.

Meanwhile reports reach them that their old neighbourhood is continuing into decline. There is widespread unhappiness. They are all brooding and could even cause serious Anti Social Behaviour with their Russian neighbours. They will no doubt cause a big fight and then expect the British neighbours to help them (again). Rumour has it that the British neighbours will laugh their socks off.

..............And the rest of the estate looked over the fence and saw dad telling stories to the kids...........'tell us another story............make us feel better about ourselves, and how bad the EU really is'............and dad said,'you'll have to wait for the Daily Mail to come tomorrow, that's where I get all my stories from'...........how the estate howled with laughter .:hihi:
