You mean the hair dresser has cut it wrong?

Can I ask what sort of complaint you are seeking to make. Were you injured? Or is it just a consumer complaint?

If its the latter a solicitor seems to be a very extreme step and would cost significantly just to get them initially instructed. There is no legal aid available for consumer complaints and no win no fee is generally only offered if there is a substantial injury to be compensated.

A hairdresser stripped and re-dyed my dark hair on the same day because I wanted to go very light. She never did a strand test. She re-assured me it could be done with a number of treatments over time but in a short space of time, a couple of weeks apart. After trying to get another appointment and no contact from this salon I went elsewhere and was informed that my hair will never be able to be dyed the color I wanted as I am naturally dark. They did a strand test and got back to me with the results. The test had desintegrated and told me I had been lucky not to continue with the process because my hair would have fallen out! I am left with bleached hair that cannot be touched for some time. All I want is my money back of £120 so I can put it toward getting my hair sorted.

You want a solicitor for £120?

Dont waste your money, you wont get legal aid. Try the Small Claims court.

My hair cost £120

I know that, may be I should have said "you want a solicitor for the SAKE of £120"?

Doesn't change my advice. Try the Small Claims Court. You wont get Legal Aid, and for £120 no solicitor would touch it on a No Win No Fee basis.

It is your word against their's.

They will say that you understood what was explained and agreed to that day's work.

Chalk it up to experience.

Small claims would be the way to go.

Send them (the salon) a letter putting everything in writing and telling them that if they refuse to communicate you will file for court action.

If they don't respond send them another letter using a template for a "letter before action", CAB have advice on it here.

https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/law-and-courts/legal-system/taking-legal-action/small-claims/going-to-court/taking-court-action/step-one-write-a-letter-before-action/

Then finally if they don't respond again, file an action using onlineclaims.
