Jerusalem the new capital of Israel, what difference will it make?

Recommended Posts

Karma.

That's what happens when you gang up on Israel, invade, they beat you and push your border further back than it was to begin with.

It was 50 years ago, it's time to get over it and stop being a terrorist state.

Well said..;)

Karma will come around for Israel, Israel will never see peace while it tramples all over Palestinians.

Using the terrorist line doesn’t justify the indefensible disproportionate use of force by Israel.

Israel is the occupying terrorist force!

If an Iranian or Muslim said that they would be worried :)

the tide appears to be unstoppable. Last week, it was the United States and Guatemala that opened up embassies in Jerusalem. Today it was Paraguay. Tomorrow, it will be Honduras.

in a rare move, Hanan Ashrawi, who normally never says anything because she has been marginalised by the Palestinians for being both a Christian, and a woman, has called on Paraguay to reverse its decision.

“Paraguay has conspired with Israel, the United States and Guatemala to entrench the military occupation and to seal the fate of occupied Jerusalem,” Ashrawi said. “We call on Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes to retract his decision and take the necessary steps to hold Israel accountable for its flagrant violations of human rights and crimes against humanity.”

Interesting thread! Just read through much of it.

In my opinion it was a foolish decision by Trump to move to Jerusalem when the city is claimed as the capital by both Palestinians and Jews.

Regarding the use of deadly force against stone-throwing youngsters (and all the other incidents in their short history) I reckon somewhere down the line Israel will have a high price to pay for not having better relations with their neighbours.

President Trump never made the decision to move the Embassy. He has just carried out what was decided in the 1980's.

More than just stones are being thrown towards Israel. The youngsters want to kill Jews and their families are rewarded by Hamas as consequence of their actions.

My bold

Im curious, how can you have good relations with neighbours who have made it clear that their sole intention is to kill you and that they will only be happy when you are gone?

it's not as if Israel's foreign relations are bad at all.

they're probably in a better state than they have ever been. BDS is flopping badly. The new rapprochment with the Gulf Arabs is probably the most welcome development, although it has been coming for a long time. Peace with Egypt and Jordan is holding up. Excellent relations now with India and China, which didn't used to be the case before. Rapidly expanding links with Latin American and African nations who have now realised that taking the Palestinian side is not going to do anything to benefit them at all but that they can benefit a great deal from having close relations with Israel.

the picture is not perfect. In particular, the ongoing situation with Turkey and the frequent spats with Erdogan is the biggest black spot. And of course, The European Union and the United Nations are terms of abuse, in Israel. But overall Israel's foreign relations are at a high point.

You forgot Saudi, that's going well too apparently.

The BDS thing is hysterical, literally. People boycott Jaffa oranges at Waitrose and then check Waze for the traffic on the way home. Etc

It's almost as if the non joined up thinkers fancy bringing on the rapture by hooking Israel up with Russia.
