Jeffrey Shaw   90 #1970 Posted June 7, 2018 Of course they will. The sheeple of sheffield will never vote anything other than Labour.  They get the council they deserve. So how did the LDP win/hold control only a few years ago?
 Share this content via...

sheffbag   229 #1972 Posted June 7, 2018 Why so?. This is the UK, not Russia or North Korea. Angel1.  Quite right, its the UK and a UK judge has ruled that the circumstances regarding the case is proven under UK law.  People have been found to have broken the injunction, the legal system has been followed and the case has been proven. If it was some scutters breaking an injunction elsewhere the same would apply so why not here.  The sentencing will be interesting and i guess the judge will take factors into consideration but the decision is correct. Don't forget one of the defendants admitted in court that he broke it so one of them would have been found guilty regardless by their own admission.  The over-reaction on Twitter "feeling physically sick" "the soul blood of the innocents is in your filthy hands"(REALLLLLLY, where did that little beauty come from) is predictable but it was a case of a point of law and SCC won.  Not sure what your comment about Russia or North Korea is meant to represent.  ---------- Post added 07-06-2018 at 16:42 ----------  Crump - 2 months sentence suspended for a year Compin - 2 months sentence suspended for a year Grace - No further action to be taken Brooke - Case still to be decided
 Share this content via...
cgksheff   44 #1973 Posted June 7, 2018 (edited) Simon Crump gets suspended prison sentence. Term of two months, suspended for one year.  Justice Males says it is unnecessary to take any further action for the 'isolated incident' against Fran Grace, a retired primary school teacher.  Benoit Compin receives a suspended prison sentence - two months, suspended for one year.  Costs will not be decided until case against Paul Brooke is concluded.  https://twitter.com/ChrisBurn_Post  Paul Brooke's case is slightly different, in that he said that he re-entered the 'safety zone' because he thought a lady was being assaulted. darylslinn   10 #1975 Posted June 7, 2018 Bet they will all go out and break the injunction again.  At the end of the day it should never have come to this.... both sides of this story are as bad as each other and have made the whole Sheffield tree saga a national joke.  When I was down in London the other week and someone asked me where I was from they jokingly stated something along the lines of "oh, where the tree huggers are battling against the council".  Time for all three sides (especially the council) to sit down and come to a peaceful resolution. paula4sheff   10 #1978 Posted June 7, 2018 Just think how much of OUR money the council have squandered on keeping Amey happy, and trying not to lose face.  Absolutely astonishing.  Meanwhile, driving along Little London Road/Chesterfield Road continues to be like going down a farm yard track.  Sheffield Council are a joke. Do our councillors ever look beyond the borders of this city at what other councils are doing and trying to achieve.
 Share this content via...

It would have meant breaking the terms of the PFI contract and allowed Amey to impose fines which would have far exceeded the legal costs.  You can also thank the tree protesters for the delay in the road repairs including London Road.
