Chapeltown last night

Recommended Posts

It has got worse over the last few years, mainly with Youths and drugs.

The drug problem mainly started in High Green and worked it's way down to Chap.

I lived there 40 years.

I liked it that much, I spent time building a website. HERE

Thanks for the website - Its very very good! And really clear to read as well!

Thanks for that website link Viking. You've got bizarrely similar parallels with me :o.

My grandmother drove an overhead crane in the Tank Factory, and my Grandfather drove those Churchill tanks in the Army, whilst my Mother worked at Parramores (and I went back from school dinners after the hooter ;)) and my father was a moulder in a foundry too! Strange eh? ;)

Both my Mother AND Father worked at Parramores at some time.

I worked at the "Tank factory" a lot later when it was Ransomes and Rapier (Excavators).

Small world T.

Nice website Viking, I lived on Westwood Rows when I was a lad. Some of my mates lived on Thorncliffe row. I trained as a moulder in the foundry at Newton Chambers, started there in 1964, probably knew some of your family.

Knew quite a few people who worked at Parramores and Charlton Ironworks.

Good people, happy days. :)
