MR FOX   10 #37 Posted March 3, 2018 (edited) Is Penistone Rd 30 all the way along ? I always presumed it was but a few people have said it's 40 in parts? Pretty sure I got done doing 34 on Saturday as there was a police 4x4 in a layby. I've never been done before and I'm usually so careful!  ++++++++++ Edited September 2, 2018 by MR FOX
 Share this content via...
DerbyTup   10 #38 Posted March 3, 2018 Really? In a new car?  What's the age of the car got to do with anything?  We are talking physics here. It's not possible for any car milometer to be 100% accurate. There are too many variables, things like aerodynamics, the state of your car tyres, the air pressure in the tyres even, and things like weather conditions, etc.  Most car speedo's are deliberately set so they read out as being 2 or 3 miles an hour faster than what you are actually travelling at. So, the chances of you getting a ticket for doing "34 mph" according to your speedo are extremely remote. I really wouldn't fret any further over it if I were you.  I bought a speed camera detector a few weeks ago - it was a real eye opener. Not because it spots all types of speed camera's, mobile, fixed, laser, etc., but because it gives an accurate read out of your actual speed (because it is using radar).  On the motorway I was doing 75 mph according to the speedo - but in fact it was 69 mph according to the device. Same around town - on average the car speedo is reading out a minimum of 3 miles an hour faster than what the actual speed is. AlexAtkin   10 #39 Posted March 3, 2018 Of course it CAN work both ways, which is why they have that allowance before prosecuting in the first place.  Thus, stick to what your speedo says and you should be fine.
 Share this content via...
