Fly Tipping Problems

Fly tipping ,sheffield council as already been said have only themselves to blame for the explosion of fly tipping ,yes its wrong and unsightly ,

but if the council thought it thru properly and work with the people of Sheffield, not against us  ,open the dump sites seven days a week with proper working hours so one and all can access the sites from say 0830 in the morning not 1000 and stay open until 1900 not 0430 then perhaps the fly tipping would not be as bad

Wrong. The only people responsible for fly tipping are the selfish people who fly tip.

If the recycling centres were to be open more often and not charge businesses, the extra costs would fall on to the council tax payers. Are you willing to pay extra in council tax?

We do.

What makes you think that opening tips longer will change the mindset of somebody prepared to fly tip their rubbish? I just don't get the idea that they do it because the tip is shut.

in reply to "Resident" you are talking rubbish ,if the shop was closed at 9.00pm there are other shops open to go to ,the point is there are very few council tips you cannot go to another if they are closed ,what about people who work from say 0800 to1700  and are unable to get to a tip, if they want a shop there are plenty to go to ,think before you comment

Tips are open 7 days a week. There are very few of us whose commitments are such that we can't find the time to take a bit of rubbish to the tip.

Absolutely and, for the hard of Googling, here's the opening times: Household recycling centre opening times.

Shirecliffe is open seven days. All the others are not.

If in the south of Sheffield, either Blackstock Road or Beighton are open. If in the north, Shirecliffe is. 7 day coverage.

It's very simple.

I would also say that if you buy something, you are responsible for its correct disposal. If you use a tradesman, expect some costs for a skip or other waste disposal service.

I thought my post was very simple. Only Shirecliffe is open seven days a week. All the others are not.

They're still open as at 10.36 this morning:

Household Waste Recycling Centres

Currently all of our five Household Waste Recycling Centres are open as normal.  However, we ask that you limit any visits and avoid visiting the sites if at all possible.  If you do need to visit a site, please ensure that you follow  the Government’s social distancing guidelines.  The safety of the public and our workforce is critical and whilst we aim to keep the sites open, sites will have to close if large numbers of people visit the sites.
