Penistone999   10 #49 Posted August 11, 2013 According to Barnsley Council's website they don't accept business waste at their Household Waste Recycling Centres either, nor do they here in Derbyshire. It also appears that Barnsley also do the same as Derbyshire and collect black bins every fortnight and recycling the alternate weeks. I assume you're the same as us here and have absolutely no problems at all with this system.  Like many ,many people a fortnightly collection is no good to me what so ever and i make quite a few trips to the dump with household rubbish , or use the big green recycling bins in the supermarkets to dispose of it if the dumps are closed. RobWilson   10 #50 Posted August 11, 2013 Like many, many people, a fortnightly collection is no good to me whatsoever and I make quite a few trips to the dump with household rubbish, or use the big green recycling bins in the supermarkets to dispose of it if the dumps are closed.  It's nice to know that you're recycling so much that you fill more than a wheelie bin's worth every two weeks. Good work. It takes us a fortnight to fill our recycling wheelie bin, but there are only two of us.  It's a good job that your Household Waste Recycling Centre in Penistone is open 9-5 362 days a year. RobWilson   10 #53 Posted August 11, 2013 Who mentioned recycling? I'm on about my black wheelie bin overflowing after 5 days. My recycling bin is brand new in the barn ............. It's never been used.  Sorry. When you said that you "make quite a few trips to the dump with household rubbish, or use the big green recycling bins in the supermarkets to dispose of it", I thought you were putting recyclable waste into the supermarkets' recycling bins. I didn't realise that it was possible to be so stubborn as to drive to a supermarket to put landfill waste into their recycling bins.  How often would you prefer your black bin to be emptied? Every 10 days? Every 7 days? Every 5 days? Every 3 days?  I don't know about Barnsley, but here in Derbyshire you can pay the council to come and collect your extra landfill waste for a fee. We only pay the standard fee (included in the council tax) to get 3 bins collected per fortnight, so don't need it.  If there's nothing toxic in your landfill waste you could always bury it in your garden or fields. vincentb   10 #55 Posted August 12, 2013 Can someone tell me how exactly you report flytipping? Is it through the council? Anyone have a number I can call as I see that much when I'm out and aboutnowadays and usually just presume someone else will have reported it but maybe I should start doing my bit in future...   The site fixmystreet.com is a really good (and easy) way of reporting problems like flytipping. You tell them what the problem is, then they forward it to the council (or whoever is responsible) and you can easily track whether they give you a response, whether it gets fixed, etc.
 Share this content via...

RobWilson   10 #59 Posted August 12, 2013 I pass Deepcar dump most days on my way into Sheffield for meetings so I just dump it in there; so not out of my way at all.  I'm sure that the council tax payers in Sheffield are delighted to pay for the disposal of your rubbish, even though you pay Barnsley to dispose of your waste.  Fly tipping, by any other name, would smell as foul.
