poppet2 Â Â 13 #3 Posted October 25, 2017 Do you keep them in the house, at your bank or at your solicitors. Are they in fact really necessary ? When will we need to use them ? When we sell the house ? Â The bank will charge you if they keep them for you. Anyway, surely the fact that they have your name on them should stop anyone falsifying them or committing fraud:confused:
 Share this content via...
pattricia   578 #4 Posted October 25, 2017 They're all online now  Thought that was The Land Register ?  ---------- Post added 25-10-2017 at 16:36 ----------  The bank will charge you if they keep them for you. Anyway, surely the fact that they have your name on them should stop anyone falsifying them or committing fraud:confused:  I think you need to pass them on when you sell the house. echo beach   587 #12 Posted October 28, 2017 When our mortgage was paid our building society said that they would keep the deeds securely for free and they left the mortgage with £1 outstanding in case we needed more money in future. That was over 20 years ago and we have never needed to take up their offer. I did take copies of the deeds, however, before the building society had possession of them.  Echo.
