Nah, there's been other stuff in the news now and the general public are quick to forget.

He'll sit on the naughty step for a while and then quietly get let in the back door with a promise not to do it again.

Lots of truth in that

How long has he been suspended now? I think if it's three weeks there has to be a by-election.

On further research, this only applies if they have been suspended from the HoC, not a political party. Shame.

Various overheard pub conversations tonight were universally along the lines of "The man's a cretin and a complete embarrassment to Sheffield".

Indeed.

Difficult to argue otherwise really!

Why continue with this clown? Would send out a very positive message to get rid of him, state loudly that the Labour part won't tolerate this sort of behaviour, and move on. People would respect that decision. What people despise is the constant 'covering up' that people in power do for their cronies- regardless of what the public know, or think. The message it sends out is toxic.

I wonder what background checks the Constituency Labour Party ran on his recent history and activities?

CLP didn't have anything to do with his selection.

Was not regarded as a "winnable" seat, and HQ appointed him directly from a "list" of local possibles

So HQ did no background checks, then. Hmm, not a good move.

To be fair - the election was called at very short notice - so any party will focus their efforts on the seats they have a chance of winning. And remember that before the election everyone reckoned Labour was going to get wiped out - I'm sure there were very few people who thought they were in with a shout of winning Hallam.

Investigation still ongoing. Turns out at least one more of their 2017 intake is a bit suspect. At least they can get a bulk deal on new bindings of their rulebook for all these reprobates they selected.
