So in the last 48 hours or so Trump has vetoed a coronavirus relief bill, pardoned a lot of his shyster mates and now has vetoed a defence spending bill and there is still nearly 4 weeks of his presidency left.

 

I wonder what else he'll get up to - the term scorched earth springs to mind.

Also pardoned 4 Blackwater security contractors after they murdered a bunch of Iraqi civilians.

The US president pardoned his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, his longtime adviser Roger Stone, and Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner.

 

Roger Stone, a longtime friend and associate, had his sentence for a series of charges related to the Russia investigation commuted by the president in July.

 

The president issued 15 pardons and five commutations to allies, including two figures who plead guilty in special counsel Robert Mueller’s inquiry on Russian interference in the 2016 US elections.

 

On Tuesday, the president pardoned George Papadopoulos, a former adviser who pleaded guilty to lying to federal officials during the Russia investigation, and Alex van der Zwaan, a Dutch lawyer and son-in-law of the Russian billionaire German Khan. Papadopoulos and Van der Zwaan were the third and fourth people pardoned for charges in connection to the Russia inquiry. In November, Trump pardoned his first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about contacts with a Russian official. The president, who has long derided the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election as a “hoax”, has been expected to dole out pardons to those implicated in the inquiry.

That is a chilling turn of events.

 

Trump:      I won Georgia by at least 500,000 votes.

Georgia Secretary's of State:     No you didn't.  There's no evidence that what you are claiming is true.

Trump:     I want you to find that evidence, and find the missing 500,000 votes, or you're in a lot of trouble.

Georgia Secretary's of State:     Thank you, President Trump, for your time.

 

Good on Brad Raffensperger (Georgia's Secretary of State) for refusing to indulge Trump.
