It's never been easier to get masses to vote against their best interests. The US vote for Trump, after the last 4 years, is all the evidence you'd ever need for that truism.

 

(* Poland might just be turning a corner at last, that said, seeing how Polish women are currently forcing the government to u-turn on the abortion ban)

 

EDIT: and as for the walk in the park/close race...if Biden wins the election by 1 electoral college vote, guess what?

He's been rubbished by a SECTION of the media not all by a country mile. Blue collar workers get to keep their guns. He'll also corner the racist and sexist vote. And the nutty Christian right who want to have more say on women's bodies than they do. And rich people, or people who think they'll be rich. He lost the Cuban vote in Florida because they equate socialism with Castro's communism.

 

And idiots, let's not forget them. Their vote counts as much as the most learned professor. The ones that think that celebrities are abducting children and drinking their blood. Those people hold down jobs and are allowed to vote. And vote they will!

For someone who will be running the country and travelling around the world for summits and meetings, well it ain't gonna be easy.

If it does - for either candidate - let's hope the VP takes the reigns and the incumbent let's them. I suspect trump wouldn't.

I’m not sure how it will affect this country who wins the presidency, but it’s the American people who decide.

 

If Trump loses he still remains in the job for a few more months.  It will be interesting to see what he does in that time.

There is an important point and aspect to US politics behind your post in jest: for so many Americans, politics is all about 'The Big Win', like so many other facets of their ultra-competitive society and culture. It isn't enough to win, the opponents have to be vanquished.

 

At a personal level, that boils down to wanting to belong to the winning team, irrespective of what the game is about and how it's meant to be played.

 

Trump's campaign and communications were always playing on this cultural trait, and still do now.
