I learned in school that St George (we called it Sv. Juraj in Croatia)

was born in Cappadocia, Palestine.

 

Cappadocia is in modern-day Turkey but back then it was part of the Greek-speaking Byzantine empire.

The dragon was born in Wales but the egg was laid in England and carried accross the border by St David where it grew up to hate the english and speak in a strange language that involved a lot of spitting. This is how the dragon came to breath fire, fed on a diet of coal and Caerphilly cheese it was the mother of all acid reflux.

But where was the Dragon born?

 

as far as I understand it, the dragon was from Libya where this St George dude, who clearly got around quite a bit, was there to save a maiden that was about to be fed to the dragon on account of them having run out the usual offering to pacify the dragon, sheep.

 

sheep are still a bit thin on the ground in Libya, to this day.

 

St George saved the Libyan maiden by slaying the dragon, and the grateful Libyans inspired by his example, promptly converted to Christianity.
