New bar and restaurant nr Hunters Bar

Recommended Posts

Is this anything to do with "Swanky Franks" the burger bar at Woodseats which shot to fame due to fake reviews on TripAdvisor and became Sheffield's No. 1 restaurant apparently?

If so, expect a glut of fake reviews on TripAdvisor when it opens and watch it soar to No.1 restaurant in Sheffield again maybe?

Not that I know of.

The new place on Ecclesall Rd looks a bit unappealing, smoked glass windows and a garish sign, but time will tell. Might look a bit more inviting once it's lit inside.

Update 2 December. Still not open.... if they don't open soon they'll miss out on one of the best times of year to open and make some money.

New restaurant opened on this site, https://www.turnipandthyme.co.uk/

Thanks for posting.  The food looks nicely presented and I hope they do well with it.  Not the greatest of locations though, not so easy to park around there and it's easy to miss it as you drive past.  I was amazed the old Ambar survived so long there - I think they had a long-established clientele that remained faithful to them over the years.

At this end of Ecclesall Road it's less about students and perhaps more about folks seeking a bit more specialist dining.  They will have stiff competition from the Olive restaurant a few doors away.

I wish them well with it anyhow - I think they'll need to make a concerted effort to raise awareness and interest in it and offer something a bit different to some of the more established places on that stretch.

very difficult location not thought out as you say limited parking and a busy section of road to stop on, plenty of competition near thats more accessible. think it will struggle to do the turnover to make it work unfortunately.

Olive seems to be lasting better than some of the other places that have occupied that spot. I haven't been in myself but from the menu it looks like simple food at prices that aren't offputting for a casual family meal.
