We use Peak Vets - they were the most pleasant to speak to on the phone when we were ringing around, they haver reasonable rates and easy parking, despite being miles away. One of them seems to be an eye specialist too, judging by the string of letters after his name.

After a terrible incident with our (now previous) vets we have just started at Broomhill Veterinary Practice - they have been excellent with Takara who is incredibly scared of the vet after the terrible incident mentioned above.

It's only a very new practice but thought I'd mention it on here - I work there too but I am actually only posting because of my experiences as a client!

(Free dental checks throughout September too ;) )

Highfields on London Road is excellent. Precious usually sees Nigel there.

I have recently moved to Walkley and am looking to change my vets. The 2 most convenient for me appear to be Hallam vets at Crookes and Broomhill vets. There is not much about either on these threads. Does anyone have any comments/advice about these two vets?

I have 2 cats and one is VERY nervous so I am very anxious to find a very patient, understanding and kind vet.

Thanks

I use Highfield for my dogs because I got recommended by my DDB breeder and I have nothing but praise for them. They kept me updated when I had my DDB spayed and have explained everything to me regarding my rotties milk problems (she's not been bred just has problems with her milk when she comes into season).

I would recommend Anneke at Broomhill Vets. She's lovely and caring and won't talk rubbish at you. She's very good with the tissues and always gentle with the charges in her care (even at 8pm on a Saturday evening with an emergency visit when one of my rat had polyps!)

does anyone have any experience using either springfield vets at richmond road or hall court vet group at handsowrth road? these are the closest vets to me

i have a nervous dog who needs careful handling, 5 rats who are my babies but my first group so i need a knowledgable vet, a gecko and a goldfish lol

my dog is registered at vets4pets at millhouses for the vac4life programme so goes there for her yearly check up/booster but i am looking for somewhere closer to home for her general care (but only if they are any good obv)

i have prev used broomhill vet but moved as i was unhappy with there treatment of my rat. i have also used peak vet after several recommendations on here and the fact they do their own out of hours but to be honest i am not overly impressed and they are a long way to travel for mediocre care.

Springfield have a couple of very good exotic pet vets, they are based at the Rotherham branch though. Not had experience with Halls but think their operating branch is not so near to you, however Springfield do ops at Richmond Road branch and they have a couple of good nurses who have been there a long while

thankyou for the reply berlingo.

well if i registered with springfield can you use any branch do you know? I know that you can with vets4pets

i know that the hall court one ships them up to dinnigton for ops ect which i dont think i would be too keen on.

obv then there are the rats and me not knowing if the branches near me are any good with small furries.

obv the quality of care comes first but it would be useful to use a branch a bit nearer to home for all the pets im in S13 and do drive so doesnt strictly have to be one of the vets i metnioned but something close by
