Motorbikes at Shalesmoor 29 September

Recommended Posts

Anyone know what the cavalcade of motorbikes with police escorts was for today at Shalesmoor going on to Penistone Road? Was there a rally somewhere? There must have been about 100!

I couldn't help noticing that several of the riders weren't wearing helmets-what was the significance of this?

If it's a funeral cortège you are allowed to ride motorcycle / scooters without a helmet on . It's meant to be showing respect for the deceased

The police should not be choosing who they allow to break the law and how does putting your head/life at risk show respect.

there was no risk, the bikes were following a hearse at very low speed, please show respect by not trying to start an argument

As it was a funeral procession I doubt the speed would have been very high, thus negating the use of a skid lid on this kind of occasion.

cost me £30 for not wearing a seat belt at about the same speed it was a big chunk out of my cash that week.

The whole funeral cortege was at very low speed and was led by a couple of police outriders and followed up by some too.

It was very slow and the pace and route controlled by the police outriders. Apparently it comes under the rules of a parade and you do not have to wear a helmet.
