Daven   10 #3 Posted August 9, 2017 (edited) Did we need another one? Eye centre needs expensive equipment and specialists. RHH has a good well equipped eye centre and has been able to deal with the load so far.  The new centre is for day surgery and will take a lot of the work currently done at the RHH. There must be a need for more modern and state-of-the-art facilities. Options for expansion at the RHH are very limited. dutch   68 #4 Posted August 9, 2017 The new centre is for day surgery and will take a lot of the work currently done at the RHH. There must be a need for more modern and state-of-the-art facilities.  Some of the modern eye surgery equipment is real state of the art. Already see a lot less blind people about in this society than 40 years ago.
 Share this content via...
Daven   10 #5 Posted August 9, 2017 Much of this is due to improved health education and monitoring of such things as diabetes and glaucoma.
 Share this content via...

RHH has a good well equipped eye centre and has been able to deal with the load so far. Â There must be a need for this new Centre, a few years ago I had my first cataract op at the RHH. and the second at Western Park. My friend waiting for her first operation at the RHH was sent a letter telling her that if she would agree to going to Balborough Hospital the wait would be much shorter which it was 5 weeks
 Share this content via...

RHH has a good well equipped eye centre and has been able to deal with the load so far.  Having had 1st class treatment at the rhh and need more, I do know that the eye clinic is stretched to the limit.I have been numerous times and it is always full,I have no complaint about the wait or the treatment but a new eye centre is needed.Maybe my opinion is biased dutch but you realise how important your sight is when its failing. muddycoffee   10 #10 Posted September 17, 2017 I think this new centre at the NGH is just for Cataract Treatments. All the other ophthalmology and eye clinic stuff will continue at the RHH. It is a big expansion of services.
 Share this content via...
