Castle archaeological dig

Recommended Posts

The architecture did look like that but that is only the outside, it had inner character.

I imagine in its heyday it must have had a real community spirit to it.

That was the point of the whole Markets area , It was a traditional meeting place for the working class, The Castle Market was more than just a shopping place it was needed and loved by many who in this City have no voice.

Now that the Castle has been uncovered  due to destroying the Market area ,has any one actually seen it!!!!!! , Had a walk around the ramparts , marvelled at the Turrets and draw bridge . marvelled at the swords , buck shot and arrows uncovered .

Where do the guided tours leave from , what are the tourist numbers . is the income from the venue  bulging the coffers at out Town Hall so as to recoup the millions spent on the demolition and excavation of our most historic trading area.

I'm looking forward to its development too.

It'll be nice to reinvigorate the castle area.

Why dont you go and ask these guys http://friendsofsheffieldcastle.org.uk/forthcoming_events/forthcoming-events/

Might be a bit more productive than acting like a petulant child over the loss of a ugly concrete cesspit of a market hall.

The city is redeveloping.   The world has moved on.   The next generation of shoppers wouldn't be seen dead in somewhere like Castle or Sheaf Markets.  Get over it.
