BBC stars wages made public

Recommended Posts

..... Then we get people such as Gary Lineker paid £1.7 million + by the BBC

..... not satisfied with that, he does adverts too !!!! Greed, pure greed.

How much does he get from BT? I watched the European Cup Final and think he was the presenter on there as well, whether it was a one off I don't know.

If any debate about earnings happens it should be about footballers and the ridiculous sums they get paid, just for kicking a football around! I think any Prime Minister should be paid more than any footballer... they should do a job swap to see how a footballer copes in that situation. They can't collapse in apparent agony in the middle of the House of Commons because someone said something mean about them...:hihi:

It was only a matter of time before footballers were mentioned even though they are totally irrelevant to this discussion. If somebody wants to pay a footballer a lot of money to play football then who are we do say they shouldn't? They are not public sector workers so we can choose whether we have any input towards their wages.

Actually, answer me this: Why do you think it is acceptable to blast footballers about their high pay yet not formula 1 drivers or tennis players or even golfers?

I know the answer by the way, I just want you to have the courage to say it...

The BBC isn't a public organisation and it has to compete for 'talent' with entirely private ones. Any debate about high pay could include TV stars and all kinds of sports people.

I wouldn't say Chris Evans has talent, not 2.2 million pounds worth anyway.

Only ones in your post that deserve high money although I don't agree with what they get, are F1 drivers. There is a risk in their sport where they could be killed, what are the risks of getting killed in the other sports you mention.

There have been more football related deaths than F1 deaths in the last 20 years.

Regardless, if somebody is willing to pay a lot of money to somebody to do a job then by default they must deserve it.

Pay isn't related at all to risk though, it's related to how much money the sport brings in.

Alan Shearer £500k to just tell us what we already know on MOTD- his boring 'analysis of a game.

"Rooney's played a pass in to Rashford- who then sees a bit of space to let Ibrahimovic to run in and pass the keeper"

Yeah thanks Alan- we'd be lost without you.

I think there should be a cap on earnings and male and female colleagues should be paid the same amount of money for doing the same job regardless of popularity..

Maybe as an insentive to bring in more viewers and listeners, bonuses could be awarded to those, such as chris evans who does by far have more listeners than any other BBC radio presenter, but it should be based on a weekly/monthly/quaterly/yearly drive brand or something.. set targets and if they reach them then hey, here's a bonus and well done but all presenters in the same field should be paid the same flat rate..

Dont forget, everyone can be replaced! if they dont like it then feel free to go elsewhere and let someone else have a go..

I dont mind paying the fee, but maybe if the salaries werent so high then the licence fee would be cheaper and more affordable..

What i absolutely dont agree with though is people being fined for not paying it!!! that is beyond ridiculous...

Also, why do we have to pay the licence fee for BBC even though some of us are already paying for sky / virgin etc which have these programmes available? surely you'd think the cost would be included and then sky etc pay the BBC from what it takes from its customers??

Who do think gets paid more, Suzanna Reid and the odious piers Morgan or the two on BBC breakfast? More to point do think Morgan and Reid are paid the same? I'll bet they get far more than the BBC duo and Morgan gets more than Reid by a fair wedge too.

The whole thing is just an excuse to kick the BBC about. Are the papers, who to a man (or woman) leapt on the subject about to tell us their top earners? Will itv or sky release who gets paid what? Of course not.

You might find it more of a struggle to follow the play if you were blind. Every little helps :D
