pam froggatt   10 #1405 Posted January 14, 2008 Sorry Plain Talker, but there was only one pub on Staniforth Road and that was the "Staniforth Arms" Apparently the Earl of Staniforth would only allow one pub on the road. The pub at the Darnall end are addressed as Main Road (The Wellington)  the story was no pubs could be built on staniforth road ---the staniforth arms was built further back off the road--and got round it
 Share this content via...

He became a commercial pilot with his own company based out of Calgary Alberta. His company was bought out by a major airline and he got the senior VP job in marketing as part of the deal. I work for a small municipality in Northern BC and we were trying to attract scheduled air service. A letter came across my desk from the airline with a Glen Pickard signature. I picked up the phone and it was him! He came to visit as part of the proceedings. He was married to a Chinese gal and lived in Calgary. He had two kids then. He used to be best buddy with my cousin David Perkins who lived with us on Beall St at that time. Told me he'd seen David Simmonite on a few visits back to UK. I actually contacted Rosemary Lambert two or three years ago on the Friends Reunited site. She told me that David Topham had a garage but I thought she said it was at the top of Bellhouse Rd. I have also 'talked' with Renee Kettle on that same site. Let me know if you remember anyone else.
 Share this content via...
