According to reviews Avast free is good. However, free AV pop ups can be rather annoying, dependent on your tolerance of them. If you are happy with McAfee you might be better off sticking with it. It will be less hassle as you are used to it and will not have to uninstall/install a new programme. All you have to do is input the license number in. Also, if your McAfee is the full Internet Security Suite, it will have more features than free AV. Check eBay for competitive prices.

I use Avast and have done so for many years. I wouldn't pay for anti-virus. Not used for a long time but I have did AVG (free version) installed but for some reason I switched to Avast. There was an issue of some sort but too long ago to remember what - I'm sure whatever the problem was its been resolved by now.

I would go for Avira. Had been using Avira free antivirus for 8 years so far. never had any issues.

Thank you!

Just use the Microsoft stuff and keep away from dodgy porn sites.

I use Avast.

Just as important you need to ensure your computer is always running the latest updates, and you've un-installed Adobe Flash and Java.

I use Comodo Internet Security 10 - free version - recently it installed Security Essentials to prevent 'man in the middle' attacks.

Free Anti-Virus for All? Well, Sort of outlines Kaspersky's plans for their new free AV product. It is being rolled out gradually, reaching the UK in October 2017.
