The Consequences of Brexit [part 4]

Recommended Posts

Is this what rubbish the EU has indoctrinated the masses of so-called 'remainers' with now?

That the EU has created a 'level playing field'? It most certainly has not. It's simply a vehicle to make the rich even richer. And to keep the poor in their place, competing with each other for low skilled, low paid crumbs off the EU Master's table. All the while the EU Presidents raise a glass of Dom perignon to Goldman Sachs.

Thats open to debate how do you work that out ?

This tends to show this countries attitude to the environment.

Although it has to be said that whether or not to carry out this kind of dubious practice is a matter for individual nations to decide, rules are not imposed by the EU upon member states.

Which once again contradicts the 'Controlling Empire' nonsense so beloved of the Brexiteers.

I have no faith in Westminster to put the environment and peoples health before profit.

Unless of course the people are in the Home Counties in which case some consideration for their welfare must be given.

We are already breaking EU clean air laws, it could well be the case that we will have to pay the EU more £££ in order not to be fined millions, after we leave.

They will not let us stay in the EU for another 2 years, whilst still breaking the laws.

UK is one of five countries persistently contravening legal nitrogen dioxide levels with pollution from factories and vehicles.

What makes you think the EU are any better,

The United Kingdom is the most unequal country in Europe.

Please explain how this is the European Unions fault.

The EU has a policy of directing funds to the poorest parts of EU member states in order to attempt to balance out and redistribute wealth and opportunity.

Do you seriously believe that that will continue once Westminster has total control?

Failures who cry about a broken system because they don’t know how to use it. Brilliant! Blame everyone except themselves.

Hard work and perseverance pays off. For those that can’t get on, it’s your fault for being pathetic and lazy.

Your rage would be mostly justified if aimed at the BRITISH government, this is exactly why the Tories want Brexit, to keep that playing field unequal. But hey, it is easier to blame a 'far away' government than a 'near government' isn't it?

So the free movement of labour is not designed to allow companies to move people to where the most jobs are, where the cost of labour is cheapest, or where the grant is for attracting companies. Oh, I forgot all are given resettlement packages to move, I think not, Whether you blame the EU or our government, the sooner out the better.

You are going to be so disappointed when you realise immigration has hardly changed (except of course if/when the economy crashes) despite May promising the world...

You already would be if you understood another point I’ve made repeatedly - the government already had opportunity to implement limitations for EU migrants, it chose not to use them. What makes you think they will post Brexit? Have a look at what India wants in exchange for free trade.

Whats india after

India produces way more graduates than it can find jobs for. It wants more Visas for them and its skilled workers.

Ultimately it wants to get as many jobs as possible offshored to India, effectively moving jobs from other countries to India.

Getting as many workers here on visas as possible provides a release valve and is part of a long-term strategy for getting jobs moved to India.

The Indian government is clear about this in trade negotiations. You can't blame them - they're doing what is best for India. The problem is that while we are looking to export things like financial services, ultimately the jobs that creates in the UK are prime targets for offshoring to India. We have little in terms of physical goods that India wants to buy from us, the middle classes there being large but not big enough with sufficient purchasing power to form a decent market for our goods. For example in India pretty adequate Indian made cars can be on the road for a fraction of the cost of a UK made one.

Bottom line. If you want the UK to a remain a rich country you don't start stripping away the protections that make that possible. The EU is a big part of providing those protections.

If you want to go out into the world following some free trade quasi-religious mantra then you are going to get eaten for breakfast.

The latter approach would do irreparable damage to the UK, but inexplicably that is what Brexiters seem to want.

The more I read this thread, the more obvious it becomes that the people supporting Brexit really have no idea what is involved.
