Called on RAC a few times, always arrived fairly promptly.

Even in the middle of Lincolnshire, miles from anywhere on a Bank Holdiay :hihi::hihi::hihi:

AA came out when we were in the middle of France. Admittedly, they do have 12 vans based in France over the summer.

Used to be with the AA, used them twice in probably 15 years, I think that's when I decided that it just wasn't worth it. £5-6000 for a battery seemed a bit steep :hihi: I think once I'd got over that 'peace of mind' concept it was easy to do without.

Odds are I'll come unstuck one day but for now I'm quids in.

My experience of the AA is that they just blindly follow their diagnostic tools readouts and can give bad (and expensive) advice.

I'm concerned that AA and RAC membership is just too bulky and covers loads of stuff I'll never use. (Does the AA still send out a rubbish magazine?)

I've used this company the past few years for simple breakdown cover:

I've found them all to be much of a muchness. It seems to work out cheapest to switch each year going through a cashback site like quidco. We can usually get two cars covered with everything except European cover for about £80 per year which isn't too bad for the peace of mind of recovery should it be needed.

Have been with Britannia Rescue for a number of years. On the few occasions I've used them, the local agent has been with me quickly. Suggest you check their prices which are much cheaper than other organisations.
