TwoTrees Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 But media companies tend to be based where their 'talent' (employees, esp. 'stars') want to be. Sheffield has a reasonably good hope of preference, surely?[/quote In which case London it is! They are probably just trying to get a rent reduction at their current location
Guest busdriver1 Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 At the end of the day companies tend to base where the bosses would most like to live so I can't see them choosing Sheffield over Manchester Really, I think you will find that a deal breaker is the size of incentives on offer.
John Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 You need to be quick because deadline is 5pm on 5th of July. Fill in the online form telling them why Sheffield would benefit from C4 moving HQ here. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/increasing-the-regional-impact-of-channel-4-corporation
Renegadeboy Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Article about Liverpool making a bid and many other possible locations mentioned. Sheffield not mentioned at all. Just another lame attempt by the powers that be at Sheffield City Council to attract or plan anything substantial? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-40591447
swfc2001 Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-40591447 Why not Sheffield . they even got Bradford bidding for this? ---------- Post added 13-07-2017 at 13:14 ---------- not even in the article !!!
Jeffrey Shaw Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Article about Liverpool making a bid and many other possible locations mentioned. Sheffield not mentioned at all. Just another lame attempt by the powers that be at Sheffield City Council to attract or plan anything substantial? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-40591447 Yet the fact that one bid was made does not in any way tell how many other bids were made. Plus the bids aren't made to the BBC anyway. So isn't it all just idle speculation at present?
alchresearch Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 A bit more news on it: Channel 4 set to move from London https://www.ft.com/content/10a19852-22f7-11e8-ae48-60d3531b7d11 Birmingham is considered a frontrunner for the new headquarters after a vocal campaign by Andy Street, the city’s Conservative mayor, but Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, Liverpool, Salford, Norwich, Sheffield and Stoke have all expressed an interest and are expected to pitch for the headquarters or regional commissioning hubs. Channel 4 said it was under no pressure from government to choose a particular location and will begin approaching cities in April.
northernboy Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 "Chief executive of Channel 4 Alex Mahon said Channel 4 would open three new “creative hubs” in the nations and regions, with the largest to be a new national HQ." So, three in the nations and regions, given that Wales has S4C = one in Northern Ireland, one in Scotland, the third probably in Birmingham?
alchresearch Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 I've seen a lot of "local" new Northern where the C4 figure is some kind of steel robot (love the one on Mam Tor!). I was hoping this was leading to it being Liverpool or Sheffield
DBSx2 Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 As a Channel 4 employee, I hope this happens Sheffield is a great fit for C4.
