Guest busdriver1 Â Â #85 Posted May 11, 2018 Â How much would property values increase if channel 4 decides to come here? Â Probably not at all. 300 jobs is a very small number. Some would re-locate yes, but some would be new recruits from the area or beyond.
 Share this content via...
iansheff   83 #86 Posted May 30, 2018 Didn't expect Sheffield to get it.  Leeds has made it to the shortlist of places where Channel 4 could move its national HQ, it's been announced. Meanwhile, Sheffield has been shortlisted as a possible Creative hub
 Share this content via...

Meanwhile, Sheffield has been shortlisted as a possible Creative hub  Sheffield is competing against Belfast, Brighton, Newcastle-Gateshead, Nottingham and Stoke-on-Trent to be the location of a 'creative hub'. I'm not sure if there will be more than one?
 Share this content via...
Dan_Ashcroft   10 #89 Posted May 30, 2018 It's pretty obvious you can't locate something like that somewhere where there's no airport and HS2 will be bypassing.  You need a transport infrastructure for staff and guess to be able to get in and out quickly
 Share this content via...

Revel   10 #91 Posted May 30, 2018 Not too surprising is it?  Sheffield is hardly a City on the move at the moment, is it?!  Because the Government don't give two hoot's about it, the council are clueless, and the residents are reluctant to any sort of change. Never mind.
 Share this content via...

nightrider   13 #93 Posted May 30, 2018 Because the Government don't give two hoot's about it, the council are clueless, and the residents are reluctant to any sort of change. Never mind.  Its a bit chicken and egg - businesses may not want to locate here due to no airport or HS2 as noted by another poster, but why spend money on adding that infrastructure when Sheffield is less important for the economy than Manchester/Leeds? Jeffrey Shaw   83 #94 Posted May 30, 2018 Plus the not-so-trendy status of Sheffield should surely be a positive factor in why it needs uptrending [© new word] by C4 relocating some stuff here.
 Share this content via...

tinfoilhat   11 #96 Posted May 30, 2018 A shame, but no surprise. Might have a slim chance with the creative hub thing - Id like to think we can at least beat Stoke!
 Share this content via...
