max   13 #2 Posted June 6, 2017 I think you'll find that SCC are not disposing of land in Sheffield merely allowing a community group to take over control of booking, maintenance etc. A little bit of fact checking would not go amiss.  Future secured for parks. Jon26 Â Â 10 #4 Posted June 6, 2017 Has anyone managed to find a link to the plans? Or is a visit to the town hall the only way of finding out what there plans are.
 Share this content via...

Bargepole23 Â Â 337 #6 Posted June 6, 2017 does this pass the rules of graves park? Â It should be looked at in the context of the current use and condition of the courts and what benefits it will provide, not measured against compliance with rules laid down in the 1930's or whenever it was. alchresearch   214 #7 Posted June 6, 2017 Amazing. Private enterprise successfully taking over and managing what were council services and providing a better service. Just goes to show it can work.
 Share this content via...

Tiberius   10 #9 Posted June 6, 2017 Were they free to use before this? This isn't provoking question, I genuinely don't know! If they are free to use and then they will not be, then it will be bad thing in my opinion.
 Share this content via...
1978 Â Â 14 #10 Posted June 6, 2017 (edited) Also, Parks Tennis CIC is run by Premier Tennis Ltd, which might have lots of references to "community" but it doesn't look much like a community group to me, they're an Oxford based company. Â No bias against Oxford then! As far as I can tell Parks Tennis CIC (Community Interest Company) is the one signing the lease/s. Premier Tennis Ltd are the ones who will be, and seemingly already are, managing the courts day to day. Â They're taking advantage of modern ways of managing community assets unheard of 80 years ago. Many local authority tennis courts across the nation have been badly neglected for decades so it must be an improvement to have tennis specialists involved. RichK Â Â 10 #11 Posted June 6, 2017 (edited) No bias against Oxford, I'm just stating facts as rather archly requested by Max. Parts of Sheffield's parkland are being disposed of by lease (council's words) to a group which are owned by a private company. I haven't found any details of the length of this lease. If they are free to use and then they will not be, then it will be bad thing in my opinion. Â Don't think they were free to use in the Eighties/Nineties, if my memory serves. Bingham Park had a small pavilion, then a container when the hut was burned down, and I'm sure I've paid to play both tennis and golf.
