don't forget, Hallam was and really is, if it was in any other part of the country, a typical Tory seat which Labour for many many years thought was totally beyond their grasp. It must be the #1 seat in the country which voted Labour, but has the highest income levels, educational qualifications, and so on. Hallam is a big gain for Labour.

UKIP's leader Paul Nuttall gone with only 3,000+ votes.

Not sorry to see him go.

Poor Theresa May was visibly shocked at her count, and made a faltering speech. Not sure she can survive this. Terrible night for her.

Yes, it could be the most catastrophic Tory stuff-up since last year's catastrophic Tory stuff-up.

Ruth Davidson didn't do badly. Salmond gone.

He can re-sod off now.

As predicted, Labour traitors now falling over themselves to fawn over Jeremy Corbyn and his policies....

Meanwhile Conservative Anna Soubry says Mrs May 'should consider her position.' Ruthless or what...

And north east Derbyshire goes Tory tonight of all nights for the first time since the 30s. Brexit? Local boy as MP rather than someone parachuted in? Something in the water?

Well I've been up all night watching, and it's been all over the place with no seeming rhyme or reason to it. Labour has won Canterbury from the Conservatives for the first time in nearly 100 years, but Scotland, the old Labour heartland has gone Conservative.

Glad Labour had such a good night, but where do we go from here? Very weird stuff happening.
