silentP   10 #49 Posted May 25, 2017 Are you really not able to grasp it? Imagine your gaughter had been murdered - would you want their image plastered all over the Sun's front page next to the face of her killer?  Honest answer. I don't think I'd be giving it any thought. Too much to come to grips with.
 Share this content via...
Broakham   10 #50 Posted May 25, 2017 The sun, mail, express, telegraph prob even the mirror are just tools to try and shape people's views.  As is the Canary.
 Share this content via...
hackey lad   3,949 #51 Posted May 25, 2017 I don't see a particular issue in what you're offended by. The side by side, victim/perpetrator image just illustrates/summarises the story on one front page.  sorry to jump in but I never ,ever thought I would agree with anything he/she said , but ive got to agree with Halibut on this
 Share this content via...

Jonny5 Â Â 10 #55 Posted May 26, 2017 What is the canary? An echo chamber read by idiots to reinforce their own entrenched beliefs. It'll go down a storm with quite a few on here
 Share this content via...

Jonny5   10 #57 Posted May 26, 2017 (edited) No, I asked what the Canary was. Not the Sun or the Mail.  It's exactly like the Sun and the Mail. Difficult concept to grasp. I know I know.  Edit. For clarification the Sun & Mail are for people who think they are decent and patriots...but aren't. The Canary is for people who think they are decent and Liberal...but aren't. So the comparison isn't exact...but you get the idea I'm sure. Edited May 26, 2017 by Jonny5
 Share this content via...
Hairyloon   10 #58 Posted May 26, 2017 (edited) No, I asked what the Canary was. Not the Sun or the Mail.  It does have a hard pro-Corbyn bias, but is not too bad so long as you're aware of that. sgtkate   10 #59 Posted May 26, 2017 This stuff just comes across as a typical bitter socialist censuring agenda ..... which many people can see straight through. I understand that many leftists don't like the Sun and the DM, there is a clear obsession on this forum too, however most people at this moment are just outraged by the incident itself in Manchester and not the style of reporting in newspapers. FWIW Corbyn and his 'non condemnation' of the IRA, is just one small contemptuous reason that many people will never vote for him or his party full of fluffy fools ! The real 'shameless scumbags' are the deplorable excrement in our society who sympathise with and harbour terrorists, as well as the vile terrorists themselves.  We don't like the Sun and the DM because they print things that are untrue. Repeatedly. And are dangerously untrue as well because they are designed to make people feel anger towards to wrong targets. Regardless of whether you hate Corbyn or not or whatever doesn't matter. What matters to me are that papers are responsible enough to print the truth without giving massive hyperbole without consequence. The papers do affect how people think about the world, the media affect us all. I stopped reading the Guardian as my main paper for the same reasons about a year ago, I found too many of their stories had a blatant skewed angle to them that the facts didn't bear out. I've now switched to the Independent as so far it's not published anything to full off horse poo.  That's all. I just wish people understood how all papers skew things to their viewpoint, but when it's done with hatred then it becomes a big problem. As Mister M posted, the Sun and the News of the World (sister publications) both admitted to hacking the voicemails of a girl who had been abducted and killed simply to try to get a story. Anyone who can possibly trust the Sun after that needs their heads examining. If they will go to such lengths for story what else will they do?  ---------- Post added 26-05-2017 at 09:01 ----------  It's exactly like the Sun and the Mail. Difficult concept to grasp. If anything slightly over egging the Corbyn angle but every article seems evidence based.  Bias aside that is rather unlike the Sun or the Mail. You're calling this one wrong in comparing them IMO but I'll cut you some slack and check the Canary every day or so to see if I'm wrong
 Share this content via...
