Do scrap men/women still take cookers?

Recommended Posts

I've got a gas cooker i need rid of. My street is pretty quiet and i've never seen a scrap man on here so don't really want to have it on the front for ages.

Starting to make a comeback, scrap iron has risen to about £70 a tonne and prices for stainless and copper are pretty strong as well.

You might be able to find someone's number on Facebook or Google, just ring and say you'll put it on the kerb tonight and if they want it pop over and grab it.

Not much of a comeback: it was £2-300/tonne not so long ago.

Not standard Iron, it got near £150 a tonne but no-where near £300.

Mind you there are many different varieties of metal, each paying out different amounts.

Yes, that was something that always bothered me about it all: I could never judge what rates they would pay for what. I often got the impression they just made it up as they went along.

Anything metal put on the street gets snatched up by one of the many scrapmen that drive around stealing bbq's etc, will they take an old oven? It's mostly made of metal!
