Harrystottle   10 #1 Posted May 7, 2017 It is odds on that Macron is going to win, but I don't think that the story finishes there. The next five years are going to be very interesting in France.  It can't be easy for Macron surely? Because he has a new party (how many MP's does this party currently have? I've tried to find out but can't).  So if he can't get a majority or a workable coalition (which has got to be more likely) he will struggle to get some of his ideas implemented. If things stall and the situation in France re youth employment and the economy don't improve what happens then.?  Anyway, this is getting ahead. If Le Pen gets 40% she will spin it as not too much of a defeat I suppose.
 Share this content via...

L00b   441 #3 Posted May 7, 2017 yep i agree, shame he will not be a good winner for the UKHe's what the UK and all others in and out of the EU are getting, so better get used to it. I'm just back from voting in Leeds, and the bin in the voting booth (in which you put the ballot paper of the candidate whom you don't vote for) was chock-full of LePen tickets. There wasn't a single Macron one.  I checked out of curiosity, to get a feel of the voting sentiment, and it doesn't come any more objective than that: in the bin are the ballot papers rejected by voters at the booth. I stopped just short of taking a photo with my mobile, in case that would cause trouble/invalidate my own vote.  From that poll station at least, as of 11:45 when I left the voting booth, it looked like Macron 100%, LePen 0% so far
 Share this content via...

I thought the main aim of voting was for no-one except the counters to have any idea what the votes are until counted, so having a bin showing effectively how people have voted seems a bit odd, unless I've got the wrong end of the stick? Waldo   96 #5 Posted May 7, 2017 Hope Le Pen wins, will be bad for France (and the EU), but good for us (Macron will try to screw us on Brexit).
 Share this content via...
Yorkshire 53 Â Â 10 #6 Posted May 7, 2017 I'm hoping the bankers' puppet Mac-con gets in to perpetuate the crisis in the EU rather than Merkel's nightmare, Le Pen. Sit back Marine and wait for the rotten edifice to crumble further and let him who deserves it get the blame, not you. Then, when they flock to 'Saint Jeanne de Pen' for salvation, go for a new Europe, run by the people, not the pompous financial elite and their lap dogs. BTW, Is that 'socialist' Kinnock and his family still troughing in Brissels, I forget ? Â "Vous faites votre lit et vous mentez dedans", ...as they say in Grimsby. Â BTW Harrystottle, Mac-con heads a movement, not a party.
 Share this content via...

Macron nailed it, 2/3 of the vote. Merci France, vous ete magnifique.De rien Monsieur Tim, tout le plaisir fut pour moi  Looks like 35% for Marine. I wasn't far with my prediction at 32%. petemcewan   27 #11 Posted May 7, 2017 I did watch a programme on which some young (20-30 yrs ) people were interviewed. They said they wouldn't be voting at all.Their reasons were that the choice was a banker or a fascist.
 Share this content via...
