iansheff   86 #4 Posted March 17, 2017 You can buy a card form Sky to use in your box for a one off fee, not sure of the price but will be on SKy site. However the box will not record so maybe just get a Freesat box.
 Share this content via...
AnthonyTapp   10 #5 Posted March 17, 2017 We just use the sky box ,unplug the internet cable and don't pay sky anything ,you get freesat that why simple no cost no buying extra bits as it's already there
 Share this content via...
WasThatWise   10 #6 Posted March 17, 2017 The freesat boxes do not need a card so if you are going to get one don't get a Sky freesat card (like what I did!)
 Share this content via...
mps32 Â Â 10 #7 Posted March 17, 2017 You can just buy a freesat box and use the same sky dish and cables. Or you can use your sky box but it is a pain as you can't view most of the channels.
 Share this content via...
geared   303 #8 Posted March 17, 2017 Yea the sky dish and cables are just normal kit, nothing specific to Sky so will work fine with a FreeSat box.
 Share this content via...

sprocky   10 #11 Posted March 19, 2017 can you still pause re wind & record if you remove the internet cable on sky box
 Share this content via...
mps32   10 #12 Posted March 20, 2017 You don't need the internet to record on your sky+ box, but if you cancel your subscription you can't record or pause on the sky box and they remotely wipe your hard drive on cancellation date.  We have happily moved to a humax pvr freesat box, sky are still trying to get me to rejoin they are offering £12 a month for a new 12 month contract for sky sports.
