Recommended Posts

We are considering getting rid of Sky tv and have been told that freesat is a good alternative.Does anyone know of a good supplier who would fit it for us.

You already have it, it's part of sky.

You can buy a card form Sky to use in your box for a one off fee, not sure of the price but will be on SKy site. However the box will not record so maybe just get a Freesat box.

We just use the sky box ,unplug the internet cable and don't pay sky anything ,you get freesat that why simple no cost no buying extra bits as it's already there

The freesat boxes do not need a card so if you are going to get one don't get a Sky freesat card (like what I did!)

You can just buy a freesat box and use the same sky dish and cables. Or you can use your sky box but it is a pain as you can't view most of the channels.

Yea the sky dish and cables are just normal kit, nothing specific to Sky so will work fine with a FreeSat box.

You don't need the internet to record on your sky+ box, but if you cancel your subscription you can't record or pause on the sky box and they remotely wipe your hard drive on cancellation date.

We have happily moved to a humax pvr freesat box, sky are still trying to get me to rejoin they are offering £12 a month for a new 12 month contract for sky sports.
