Recommended Posts

The name of the building on suffolk rd next to coop funeral care. That is now being developed into student flats. Think it was stood empty for a while. I'm sure I heard of a connection to the little mesters.

They were major suppliers of all types of polishing materials for the Cutlery industry not Engineering, beside Laycocks in the adjoining building was C Walkers Cutlery firm in the 60s and 70s.

In the 70's and 80's Laycocks sublet to Hill Bros, Warris &co andCamelot. Before Laycocks Shaw &Fisher used part of these buildings. It was rumoured before this A Friendly Society occupied part or all of the building to store deeds etc in a strong room. This was later used by Laycocks to store pumice for the buffers to use.
