Do bus drivers always work the same route?

Or do they just get assigned a random route in Sheffield at the start of the day?

Mate of mine works for first and they change his route every so often but they give him plenty of notice so he can learn it

most have set groups of routes they work regularly.

They have a rota to follow and know in advance what they are doing unless a last minute change comes about. If that is the case a driver would not be put on a route they didnt know.

As a total aside, what is the protocol for when a route gets blocked by say an accident, or badly parked cars or fallen trees etc? Do they have a route card showing how to divert sections, or is it radio control and ask or whatever?

Radio control in case it is not an isolated incident and a consistent diversion can be run.

Unless they are driving the 72 (previously 71). The drivers are still getting lost trying to find their way into Crystal Peaks.

I think they must have the same route, that way they can aim for the same pot holes every journey!
