Bus fares going up again from April

Does any one know what price the weekly tram only is to be ??

Don't see why travel centre can't sort it its a universal ticket not a first specific one seems a lot of faffing around for a bus ticket!

 

Nothing to do with travel centre, it is a first issuing fault so its up to First to sort it out. A new ticket would have to be issued, who would pay for it? Our poor skint PTE or First who issued it but are not present in the travel office?

P.S. this should have been picked up when you bought it as it should be scanned straight after issue to record the trip you took as issuing it does not record a trip so the driver got it wrong twice. Next time make sure it is scanned and works when you buy it then it can be sorted out straight away if their is a fault.

Ive had a great idea. Why don't we run bus services for the benefit of the passengers? No I know, it's too advanced. The modern capitalist world isn't ready for that yet...

We did have a service for the benefit of the passengers, it was called Sheffield Transport Department

Exactly, just because the group makes a profit, it does not follow that every part of it is in profit, even with all the back door subsidies from the PTE.

 

This is outrageous. How can there be 'back door subsidies' when buses haven't had back doors for at least 30 years.

Of course it does. As does labour costs, electricity, gas, business tax and many other overheads...

 

We've actually done OK in Sheffield and prices are still comparatively cheap. Think back to before 2012 when a First Sheffield weekly ticket was £18.50 and a First day ticket £4.60 (before they decided to slash fares to match the Stagecoach competition) - its still cheaper or the same now for a Citywide ticket for any bus or tram! (and Citywide/Citybus prices were reduced in the last couple of years as part of the bus partnership so that price increase is kind of just an offer ending).

 

And the Stagecoach 28 day tickets in Sheffield before todays increase had only gone up by about £3 in the last 7 years if I remember correctly!

Although I agree with the above under current EU rules its is unlikely that public transport can be subsidised in the UK.
