SiSiSi   10 #1 Posted March 1, 2017 I've just read the thread about Knuckleheads of the 50s and 60s so I thought I might start one about some of the more recent characters.  The two that spring to mind, being a native of S6, are John Chidlaw and Brian Battle. Both unfortunately are now deceased. I never really knew John, but Brian was certainly an interesting character to be around. Any others? Ridgewalk   101 #4 Posted March 5, 2017 I knew John late 1970s early 1980s. I think I was partly responsible for getting him back into karate. Never close but he was a regular at Middlewood Hospital Social club when I worked there ( hospital). I was probably a bit more familiar with his brother Bob who I last saw around 2001. John must have died quite young, very sad. Anyone know if Bob is still around ?
 Share this content via...

Used to drink with him, I was only 16 when I used to go to the gate and travelers pub, if I used to call my parents and told them I was with someone else they used to pick me up about 11...if I told them I was with Brian they didn't mind what time I was home because they knew I'd be safe! Only went into the ball the once after he died, not the same not seeing him. He did get me in **** a few times thou, calling the casino where I worked saying I wasn't coming in because ( the excuse) he's been my husband calling (they knew I wasn't married) my brother, my dad, my uncle, even a nurse saying I'm in hospital! 2 of my ex's both got warnings off him! Nothing but respect for this man!
 Share this content via...
