Sheffield to become "pro-vape" city.

Recommended Posts

Whatever way you look at it its safer than smoking especially if you don't add nicotine

Unless they explode, which cigs rarely do (unless you put one of these in them)

They seem to be blowing up every week:

I wouldn't claim vaping is harmless, but that's better than tar and carbon monoxide, isn't it?

That's the point, no one knows!

So should we ban everything unknown? If eCigs were immensely dangerous then I have enough confidence in science that we'd have known by now. As it is, more scientists say that yes there is a minor risk with them due to inhaling chemicals, but compared to normal cigarettes the risk is considerably lower. Until a full ban on all cigs and ecigs is brought in then these seems a reasonable hallway house.

There are plenty of articles if you look promoting the benefits of vaping as there are articles and studies against.

http://www.ecigarette-politics.com/

The tobacco industry is extremely powerful, any pro or anti vape propaganda could be either from the this industry or indeed the pro-vape lobby. The OP was commending an anti-smoking strategy by SCC yet the thread turns into a debate where people are ridiculed for doing what they choose to do and enjoy themselves and for some use vaping as a gateway to give up smoking.

For many this is a hobby which involves technology and physics. In any sport pastime or technology there will always be those that strive to be elitist or must have the 'latest', mobile phones are a prime example.

Now that the EU have got involved by bringing in TPD, some regulations will shortly be applied, (20mg max strength,10ml bottles, 2ml atomisers, product testing etc) so those that don't vape can stop worrying about those that do are inhaling. Legislation is often counterproductive and lead to an escalation in counterfeit and illicit goods entering the market, take cannabis is an example.

Whether something is good or bad for you the choice is yours, personally I am sick of being told constantly what I should or should not be doing, we live in a nanny state where we all suffer just because some individuals are not able to make an educated and informed decision for themselves. More people are run over and injured by cars than exploding e cigarettes or suffer the consequences of a defective mobile phone charger. Try putting this search term into google: mobile phone charger fires in uk

Talk about banning something just because you don't like it yourself, really has it ever stopped anything? That's a slippery slope.

Hmmm... now you come to mention it, that's something we really ought to ban...

... the slippery slope!

According to this, a third of all pensioners are prone to performing involuntary stunts every year!

And what's SCC doing to protect our most vulnerable venerables? :suspect:

Nothing! :(

It's a disgrace!

Bottom line is I won't patronise any cafe/bar/pub/club which permits the vile odourous things. Make me cough, as does that fake smoke/mist theatres all seem to use these days.

That's a good point - it's completely voluntary. Even if it was a massive business expense or a burden on the business (which it isn't), if the management was in any way competent they would not have implemented it. It's basic economics.

You are right, its not a burden if you have written he manual correctly but you can't convince some people. It costs us £780 including VAT for our annual audit (one day). Large corporations may need two to four days if they have lots of complex manufacturing processes.

........interesting article here!

Just like you can vape nicotine products, you can also vape cannabis. Although smoking cannabis is believed to be much safer than smoking tobacco, vaping is likely to further reduce any residual risks. Popular brands of vape pen among cannabis smokers include Vuber and Ploom. Many users like to light up the old-fashioned way, and a plethora of brands are looking to serve this market. These include Grenco Science, which makes vape-like combustion pens. An alternative hardware approach is the production of fancy bongs from 3D-printed moulds, made by Printabowl.
