Bob Arctor   11 #73 Posted February 15, 2017 (edited) Mmmm, I thought as much  Rough sleeping has increased nationally by 134% since 2010, according to Homeless Link, a national homelessness charity. Bear in mind as well that before 2010 all local authorities where there were thought to be at least 10 people sleeping rough had to carry out an annual audit whereas it's now optional, so the real figure may be higher.  Something changed in 2010 and someone relaxed the requirement for rough sleeper audits. Who benefits from that relaxing of requirements do we think? Edited February 15, 2017 by Bob Arctor
 Share this content via...
WarPig   70 #74 Posted February 15, 2017 I don't know what its all about, and I don't pretend to either but the number of cars coming and going/people getting in and out of tents/in and out of the cars makes me question whether these are really homeless people. Some are parking up and then sitting outside the tent for a fag, having a little chat and the driving off??  That is dangerous in itself. Motorists aren't expecting vehicles to be mounting the actual roundabout, and certainly aren't expecting any vehicles to be joining traffic from the roundabout itself. Bob Arctor   11 #77 Posted February 15, 2017 What changed in 2010 , Bedroom Tax illegal squatting in residential property very convenient how both came out at the same time.  If as a government you realised that your policies were likely to result in an increase in rough sleeping it would be very convenient to make it harder to directly compare figures from before you were in government with figures from after you were in government, wouldn't it? The problem is that anyone living in or visiting any city in the country can see for themselves that it's much worse.
 Share this content via...

If they dont play by the rules they know their benefits will be stopped. I dont see the problem.  Then the rules change without anyone knowing, often at the whim of individual benefit offices and officers and lo and behold you are suddenly in breach. You are in breach if you are offered an interview at the time you are expected to see the benefit nazis, you will be sanctioned if you go to the interview and miss the appointment and you will be sanctioned if you make the appointment and miss the interview!!!  Must be great in your world!!! If they dont play by the rules they know their benefits will be stopped. I dont see the problem.  And here is a long list of reasons people are sanctioned that explain the problem.  For example, being late for training, because you attended your (compulsory) job centre appointment, being reported for being late and thus being sanctioned.  Perhaps you can be in two places at the same time though.  http://falseeconomy.org.uk/blog/a-list-of-completely-ridiculous-benefit-sanctions-people-have-experienced
 Share this content via...
NicDan&Oz   10 #84 Posted February 16, 2017 That is dangerous in itself. Motorists aren't expecting vehicles to be mounting the actual roundabout, and certainly aren't expecting any vehicles to be joining traffic from the roundabout itself.  There is a little bit of a laybay - I think it is intended for works and maintenance vehicles but still father tricky to be pulling in and out from especially around rush hour.
