Can anyone give information of any work being carried out

to reduce the noise levels, of the new tram-train vehicles

At present they emit squawking, rattling , banging etc.

Holme lane corner turning onto Langsett Rd is a good area

to hear the noise. Surely somebody must have heard them in use, at source

before purchases were made

The original 24 year old vehicles are much quieter.

Agreed, the new ones seem less refined, even to the point of having the whine of the electrical system seeming to come from the PA system.

The tram-trains have been built for UK road and rail operation and therefore unique.

Every rail vehicle has different qualities-

Because they are faster, stiffer and crash resistant they are longer and heavier.

Because they have to run on the railway they operate differently and have different suspension, wheels, tyres and bogies (even on Supertram routes).

They have different motor and controls and have some new gadgets to cope with the railway and the higher speed.

Noise and vibration is never good as it is bad for the tram, the track, people and buildings. All the vehicles are continuously tweaked to resolve issues if possible.

The monitoring of these is an essential part of the report that will be published.

I am sorry but this makes no sense. The paths on the "main" line need to have been agreed with Network Rail a long time ago and somehow Andy C seems to know the times even if the PTE and Stagecoach do not

Given the time they have had to think about the fares structure it is somewhat surprising that they have not been able to announce this a 3 weeks before the introduction

The timetable isn't exactly a state secret as the service has been ghost running for a few weeks now and it can all be found on the Real Time Trains website. However as the start date has only just been confirmed the artwork for the timetable leaflets etc will have only just been completed.

The fare structure I posted above. The only thing not announced yet is the price of the tram-train specific tickets which I'm sure will be announced soon.

It sounded like the tram was running until the early hours of this morning, possibly even all night as I did keep walking up because of something. Last stages of driver training maybe?

Since this is a tram train does it count as a tram or a train for people with elderly/disability passes?

An extra subsidy would have to be made payable through SYPTE by South Yorkshire residents for the Tram Train to accept SY ENCTS passes as nationally neither trams or trains are required to accept them.

Supertram does accept them though.

Stagecoach Supertram accepts ENCTS passes because the residents of South Yorkshire pay for every "free" ENCTS pass user on Supertram. This is part of the original agreement with Stagecoach Supertram and will end soon.

There would need to be an extra subsidy paid to cover every Tram-train ENCTS user as this was not in the original agreement. Is this agreed yet?

As the ticketing is the same as the trams then they will be accepted. You’re over complicating things again.
