Paddy   10 #13 Posted January 28, 2017 (edited) The Attercliffe Action Group have identified a "zone" just behind the Wicker - ATTERCLIFFE CENTRE is changing for better - There is now a school and a college - Attercliffe Centre will NOT be the place for Prostitution anymore -The Brothels will close and the High Street will be a place for shopping and commerce - there will be Huindreds of Houses and there will be World Class Sport and Leisure Facilities within walking distance of the Houses . People in Sheffield - PLEASE stop suggesting Attercliffe centre as a place for the SEX Industry - It absolutely is not  Great post!  After years of neglect, things are definitely improving for Attercliffe. As you say it needs the brothels and sex shops to be gone and then more housing to be built. Hopefully in the near future one of the supermarket chains will consider building a small shop near to the Olympic Legacy Park. G-Man   10 #16 Posted January 28, 2017 No - There is now a school and a college and Sheffield Hallam University have taken over Woodbourn Stadium and are now at the EIS and the OLP - The High Street should service the community - and The road is a major Gateway into Shheffield with upwards of 17,000 cars every day passing through - The SEX industry HAS to move on - Stanley St off Nursery Street works very well for the nighttime economy followed by anything else that people may want to do after Hours . Attercliffe can be the Best Urban Village in the UK - Bars restaurants - Sport and leisure Commerce Hotels - its got the lot - it just needs a polish - Sheffield City Council are bereft of Ideas - The woman at the top - Least said for fear of repurcussions - The Attercliffe Action Group are a group of 26 stakeholders all with Pedigree Experience Expertise and enthusiasm and we WILL transform Attercliffe and probably East Sheffield if we are not slow timed stalled or disrupted by SCC policy and Officers
 Share this content via...

crookedspire   10 #18 Posted January 28, 2017 We bought the fantasy locker sex shop and have shut it down, Attercliffe needs cleaning up and these types of places need moving somewhere else.  Then the question is were in the city ? Attercliffe fulfilled this role for many years like others have said had no housing a sort of ' forgotten' east end that made it ideal but Attercliffe is changing. The area is ripe for housing so many brown sites to pick from so many buildings that can be reused. Then this leaves the question of what should become of the few sex shops that line Attercliffe Road and the Pandora's type businesses the swingers club should then be forced to leave the area and were can they relocate before that becomes an problem? Sex establishments near retail businesses and schools are a no no so should in my opinion be moved to industrial only areas.  ---------- Post added 29-01-2017 at 01:49 ----------  Excellent work! Now what about the 3 massage parlours (yeah right!) on Worksop Road - all of which are within a short stones throw of the Oasis Academy school.  I read somewhere there is a rule that sex establishments are not permitted within 250 meters of schools but ultimately it is down to the council to shut these places down but then they do get £2000 a year to renew the licences for these places.  ---------- Post added 29-01-2017 at 01:54 ----------  No - There is now a school and a college and Sheffield Hallam University have taken over Woodbourn Stadium and are now at the EIS and the OLP - The High Street should service the community - and The road is a major Gateway into Shheffield with upwards of 17,000 cars every day passing through - The SEX industry HAS to move on - Stanley St off Nursery Street works very well for the nighttime economy followed by anything else that people may want to do after Hours . mafya   248 #22 Posted January 29, 2017 (edited) Who's we? And why did you buy a property just to shut it down?  Me and my sister, we own the propertys either side of the sex shop and it was in a very run down condition. We are now in the process of refurbishing it and the reasons we shut it down were the owner of the building did no repairs in the 20 years he had it and the building had serious structural issues. It was also making the rest of the block look tacky.... Edited January 29, 2017 by mafya
 Share this content via...
francypants   441 #23 Posted January 29, 2017 Parkwood Springs could become the red light district. There's only one road in/out of it and it's a place all on it's own.
 Share this content via...
The Joker   10 #24 Posted January 29, 2017 Parkwood Springs could become the red light district. There's only one road in/out of it and it's a place all on it's own.  I have a better idea.  Why don't we put the red light district in the West of the city instead ?  Now the trees are gone, the residents of the leafless suburbs need something new to bitch about, don't they ?
