Yep, generic code readers don't interrogate the car ECU like Planet.

I've done some tests with various scanners on my previous 307 with a known EGR, diesel heater sensor, and glow plug faults and only Planet picked up these fault codes and read the live data to show that the parts were indeed faulty.

And on two occasions I've known a national breakdown firm say that a customer's high pressure fuel pump has failed because that's what the code said, only for it to be an issue with the tank lift pump - one was a blocked filter, the other was weak current to the pump due to an old battery.

Planet would have told you the voltage and current at the pump and battery. The blocked filter would only be known by experience of that marque.

My brother is getting a laptop ready with Planet on so should be able to do you a diagnostic in a few days.

tx for all advice, car was towed to Dronfield, mech who has PP looked at it, says it has some electrical issues, that are causing occ short circuits, tripping the ECU and puts it in a form of safe mode, another fault is draining the battery, still not repaired though, ideas?
