To be fair it has done well to last ten pages before getting the inaugural '1 Post' glowing review*. Usually we are flooded with staff that think we aren't bright enough to notice.

*Their first post will be followed shortly with a defence of "I have been on this forum for a long time and have never felt the need to post, I am not associated with the venue in anyway" ;)

Thing is, the glowing reviews first timers put on, they make it so obvious they have some association with the place.

Well we gave it a go a couple of weeks back but weren't bowled over. The food was acceptable, that's all I can really say about it, nothing that you'd consider sending back but that's about it. It was very very cheap so on that basis I'd have to say it was ok value for money but I don't think we'll be rushing back.

That was pretty much my experience too.

The Harley or Burger Inc would be better choices.

I would choose the Harley if you want the best burger, although the place itself is a bit scruffy. Excellent fries too.

Never really liked Burgers Inc tried it twice and wont be back - pattie was far too solid...and the bun just not quite right (despite being from seven hills bakery).

Mudcrab burgers are pretty good too...

Best burger I ever had in Sheffield was from Mince - they popped up at Nether Edge market over a year ago and then seemed to vanish...

Hi everyone,

I popped in the Waggon & Horses a few days after opening with one of my mates and thought it was lovely. Very nice inside - (I used to go regularly in the last 8 years or so) and a nice comfortable look to the pub.

I went last night for a large family meal (my niece's 2nd birthday) a table of 14/15 of us. We all had starters to share (Two portions of 24 hot wings selection & a couple of Ciabatta garlic breads), and for mains most of us had the 10oz Rib Eye Steaks, Chicken New Yorkers, kids meals etc.

The food was fantastic! Some of the family are fussy eaters, and even they enjoyed all of their food. Clean plates, hot, sizzling, cooked to perfection steaks, fantastic!

Service was excellent from the waiting and bar staff (maybe just an extra set of hands or two as they looked quite rushed off their feet), but still, I'd give it a 10/10 as the food was that good!

Keep up the good work!!

Side note: Maybe if you could have a local real ale rotated that would be grate, Green King IPA and the other two are okay, but maybe something from Bradfield or Abbeydale breweries would go down a treat and be sold out in no time :)

I think you have to keep in mind that Flaming Grill is a chain pub with a value-for-money food operation.

Its not intended to be a Michelin star awarded gastropub nor a specialist beer destination. Just somewhere you can go in a decent location for an affordable fill served by well trained staff washed down with an acceptable beer or wine.

I've not been yet but reading all the posts it sounds like it does what it does well but you shouldn't have high expectations.
