midowl   10 #1 Posted January 4, 2017 Anyone remember the chippy half way up/down Walkley Bank Road? Was it a corrugated iron edifice? It was run by a pleasant elderly gentleman . Chips and fishcake used to last well past Malin Bridge on my way home from Broomhill - in the mid 70`s. When did it close down?? outdoors   12 #2 Posted January 5, 2017 There used to be Jimmy's, but that was more towards where the current chippy is located. He cooked to order and the fish & chips were excellent, but not of a sizeable portion to last to Malin Bridge.
 Share this content via...
Lurgh Mor   10 #3 Posted January 8, 2017 Once heard a story from one of Jimmy's regulars which went, "So we'd get to Jimmys, order fish, cake and chips each and head home. We'd get in, turn the light off and tuck in." "Turn the light off?", I enquired. "Well you didn't want to see what you were eating!", was the speedy response. iamwoody   19 #4 Posted January 10, 2017 you mean scruffy jims ? His fish and chips were nice and cheap as well but like the previous person said only small portions , he once told me this was because the fish he bought was from the market and were off cuts called cat bits .
