Dame Jessica Ennis Hill

Recommended Posts

"Sheffield's golden girl"... urgh, that tag makes me sick, can't stand the woman.

It was Jess Ennis's misfortune to be from Sheffield. Anywhere else and she would be appreciated for being successful. Sadly there are many who hate anyone who makes it through their own efforts. I presume that is why she and many others have made their homes outside the city.

Well said. She's trained very hard for what she's achieved.

so has the Nurse that saved a life on Christmas day. Where's her award?

There's people who achieved what Jess did but not got to be a Dame.

She's a lady, you know.

If Mo Farah was made a Dame then yes, you'd be right to question it.

Such a mardy unsportsman person. Look at the way she spat dummy out when she didnt win gold. No role model in my view more like shameful

what can I say, she's determined, she's focussed and she's a winner.

Unlike our third-rate footy teams.

I think there is a lot of so called ordinary people deserve the award before Jess and others who make a lot of money doing what they love.

I totally agree with you. I am not against Ms Ennis, it's the system that is wrong. It seems to be only for people who have made a name and a lot of money for themselves

Nonsense, the system doesn't only recognise people you describe.

There has always been a small percentage of well known people who receive honours for sports achievements and entertainment, but the vast majority of honours are given to those who have contributed so much to charity and community work.

Congratulations to Jessica Ennis, Sheffield should be proud.

i think all successful sports people have to make a lot of sacrifices to get where they are but the Honours System is just a joke. Rewarding people like Victoria Beckham. I think it should be scrapped. Just rich spoilt people slapping themselves on the backs and saying how wonderful they all are. We value the wrong things in this society we live in.
