Yankees Diner - Closing Down?

Recommended Posts

Uncle Sam's will be next, the last few times I've been there the food has been dreadful. Red's True BBQ will see it off.

Yes, it's gone.

Always preferred Uncle Sam's personally, right back to Ron Barton's days.

First place I ever heard any of Waylon Jennings tracks..great stuff.

Which one had a real New York Yellow cab (with the place's name on.) ?

As if uncle sams will close, nearly always busy. The owner, sue, owned yankees aswell. Uncle sams has been around longer than alot of us ! Yes, its nowt special, but its stood the test of time when everything else has gone, iam sure its mainly locals with children who frequent the place still.

I remember the 80's before we even had Mcdonalds that your choice for 'American' was Yankees or Sams.

When was the Wimpy on Fargate around?

I used to wash the pots at Yankees and Sams 27 years ago!

Sams was always better

I didn't mind Yankees but preferred Uncle Sam's.

(Mind you, standards started dropping in Sam's a loooonng time back too. When I first started going in the first thing the waitresses did was bring you a chilled glass of water. Very civilised. Lord knows why they stopped doing that. Bring it back!)
