Leak porch from underneath---any advice?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

When I moved in the house, I found out a quite bit of pond at the centre of front porch but cannot see any leak or damp from the wall or top roof. Today the porch had a stern test with the rain and I found out the leak is actually from underneath. See pictures below. Could any of you kindly offer advice what to do with it? Is it a slight void of the foundation underneath? Or need to regrout the tile? Note the downpipe drainage is fine (soakaway) and is not pointing at the place where it soaks the water from.

and just show you the soak away next to porch (where floor and wall next to the soakway is absolutely dry!)

Note all walls seem dry

If you see the pictures three main leaking points:

(1) close to external white wall. (2) near the internal door (3) a little bit damp near the external black door.

Any help or suggestion will be really grateful and appreciated.

Try cleaning out near the drain pipe first to allow the water to flow away. Try and extend the rain water pipe to a gulley. But by the look of the porch, it looks like it's been quickly knocked up (DIY JOB)

:hihi:Yes solar energy is right. Pull off shoe on bottom off down pipe and replace with bend so you can extend the pipe to get water away from that area . The soakaway is no good like 90 percent of soakaways

Sorry i have not got time to do job, You want to dig about 3 inch of area which you think is a soak away and concrete it to stop water going down. Next extend the down pipe to get the water away from the area . Best to get it to a drain if possible but if not get the water at least 3 metres away from porch . Suprised no handy man on forum cant sort it out seems to be plenty on here .No good regrouting tiles in porch till it has all dried out which can take a few weeks in the winter.:hihi::hihi::hihi:

The fall pipe wants connecting to a drain to stop the problem properly.

The main drain is on the other side of the porch. How does it connect the current downpipe to the other side?

Also, the soakaway is filled with soil. I can't dug any deeper. Is it normal for a soak away?

Any other advice much appreciated!
