Sheffield Rivers & Roads on Flood Watch/Warnings. 21/11/16

Recommended Posts

Bocking Lane was closed earlier. Not sure about now. Took 30 minutes to get from Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium to the roundabout. The houses at the bottom of Bocking Lane are flooded again and the manholes have become uncovered.

Came along Ecclesfield Road at about 6, one side some deep puddles and water flowing across the road but nowhere near as bad as it used to be

Chesterfield Road flooded at KFC. Like a river is flowing out of the park gates. Never seen it this bad. House at the bottom of Osmaston Road close to being flooded.

Horrendous journey from Huddersfield to Sheffield, almost three hours of hell. Road flooded before Flouch. From there to Midhope crawling for over an hour. Road flooded at Penistone turn, houses flooded. Then at the junction with the by-pass it was flooded and nothing moving. As the water levels increased turned around at Midhopestone. About 1.5 miles in the bridge was flooded and an Audi stranded in the water. Managed to get to Bolsterstone which was hellish in the dark. Eventually got to Manchester Road where there were three areas of flooding; houses affected too as cars drive through the water.

Stay away if you can.

Just had a quick look on Environment Agency website. I didn't know that 'not severe' flood warning means 'flooding is expected'.

Severe flood warning is 'severe flooding' - its already happened, danger to life...

(Sorry, that was meant to be quoting and in response to jeffery shaw post that isn't there anymore???)
