Prison officer strike! your thoughts??

Recommended Posts

really??? prison officers wanting to strike because its a little dangerous and not very nice dealing with criminals???? well what did you expect?

what should happen to make it safer in prisons is that all visiting is behind a glass screen with a phone like the USA, any new inmates subjected to detailed searches before entry to the main prison, wire mesh screens above prison yards and hey presto no drugs, shanks or mobile phones.

segregation of likely groups to cause trouble job done!

Perhaps we should keep the 12 Billion we give out in Foreign Aid each year and

spend it in the UK on important things like NHS, Prison Officers and all the Emergency

Services.

That is a wedge of money to give to other countries when we are cutting budgets everywhere.

I don't think 0.7 % of GNI is too much to give out. We are really lucky to live where we do. The money given in foreign aid should be considered an investment in the future of the World.

does it come easy being dense or do you work at it?

Its not to do with working with criminals, its the lack of staff, worsening conditions and the diminishing safety of the job, most of it down to cuts.

People only strike, and get no money, when things are really serious. And. Its illegal too.

we already spend £2billion a week on the NHS, but yeah, I wouldn't mind spending the extra £350million that BoJo the Clown promised

well you seem to be the expert? clearly its to do with working with the criminals and the lack of power they can exert over them?, which is what i said originally lack of an infrastructure to control the criminals which are not down to cuts more like down to the PC soft on crime regime we have now.

oh give over

always twisting things to suit your warped agenda

The POA says "chronic staff shortages and impoverished regimes" have "resulted in staff no longer being safe, a lack of discipline and prisoners taking control of areas".

The number of officers in English and Welsh prisons has fallen by a quarter in six years.

In 2010, there were 19,908 prison officers (excluding managers and supervising officers). By March 2016, the National Offender Management Service had 14,917 officers and by June 2016 this had fallen again to 14,690. And it now means the number of assaults of all types, whether prisoner against prisoner or against officers, now outnumber the staff who have to deal with them.

its nothing to do with being pc and softly softly, its to do with over crowded victorian prisons and a lack of staff (which is down to cuts, like quoted above)

We should deport the 10% that aren't British, that should go some way to making life a little easier for our prison officers.

Blimey Gamston, I disappear off the forum for a while and return to find we are way more aligned than I ever thought possible!
