WarPig   72 #37 Posted November 4, 2016 I appreciate them doing it, but I am not grateful for something I have already paid for.  You sound like your a bundle of fun to be with. About as much fun as your avatar.  ---------- Post added 04-11-2016 at 13:20 ----------  just got the letter yesterday (3rd Nov) to say they start from 7 November for 3 weeks at Hunters Bar.  OK, its going to be a nuisance, parking is a pain at the best of times but we've lived here 28 years and our road has NEVER been resurfaced before in all that time (the original cobbles are showing and we have a fine collection of potholes), so we're just grateful they're doing it now before the money runs out.  Thats the spirit. Yes, its a bit of a pain, but we all know this work has to be done. Just try not to get as grumpy as some on here, expect some delays with start/end times and take it in your stride. The hassle will soon be over and it will be a faint blip in your memory.  Im looking forward to the first post moaning that the council have returned and dug up their lovely smooth road to access sewer pipes etc
 Share this content via...

It will be interesting to see if this happens on the 7th please let us know. Once again Amey should have arrived this morning for two weeks work and again nothing, this has been going on since June. Four times they have printed letters, four times they have paid someone to hand deliver them to all the estate, four times I have asked a friend if I could park on their drive. All starting in June and we are still no further. Theyre having a laugh no wonder people don't move their cars, they just don't believe. damageandy   10 #39 Posted November 4, 2016 How long are they taking to do the lamp post upgrades?  They have fitted them on most of our estate over two months ago, but left all the holes open, pavements blocked, fencing all over the place. horribleblob   212 #40 Posted November 4, 2016 [Another] cliché alert!  There's nothing new under the sun.  Check out the radio broadcast of Hancock's Half Hour, Series 5, Episode 11, 'Hancock's car', April 1958.  "Hancock's car has been parked outside his house for ten years – much to the annoyance of the council, who haven't been able to resurface the road in that time." carol green   10 #41 Posted November 6, 2016 they said for 9 days starting on 13th it was the 9th day when they moved onto our road it was a bit of a night mare for all of estate to move there cars, we never new what part of the estate they was going to be working on, best way is to ask them daily what road they doing next
 Share this content via...

Can't see how this company stays in business with the abysmal reputation they've got to be honest.
 Share this content via...

Can't see how this company stays in business with the abysmal reputation they've got to be honest.  I think they've created a chicken and egg situation - they put up notices which are wrong so often that people quite understandably ignore them and leave heir cars parked outside their houses. Then, when they do get around to starting the works, they probably waste a load of time having to move the obstructing vehicles, thus making them even later! sgtkate   10 #46 Posted November 7, 2016 I think the people saying to get over moving your car are missing the point a bit. I don't think people object (well some real moaners probably do!) to parking elsewhere for a few days, it's the simple fact that if the dates say 7th-11th Nov, then you plan for that period. If they don't turn up or just change the dates at the last minute then how can people plan? It is poor management by Amey and yes there are probably genuine reasons as to why they have to change dates, but they should get better at informing people as soon as they can. Why not allow people to register for email updates for their area? Or just have a bloody website with real-time updates? It's not perfect and some people who don't use the internet would still struggle to find out about changes, but it's better than the totally adhoc shambles we have at the moment. Cyclone   10 #47 Posted November 7, 2016 The management of the process is pretty shambolic, and the communication dire, I think we all agree.
 Share this content via...
the_mandarin   15 #48 Posted November 7, 2016  I have to say though, they were very respectful of residents coming & going,  I agree.  When they were working on my street, I forgot to move my car before 07:00 am on the first day. As luck would have it, they started work from the same side of the road where my car was parked. But they were kind enough to leave that part of the road and move ahead. When I finally remembered around 9.00 am and went to move, they just said they were waiting for me with a smile and thanked me for moving the car.
